History's big decisions, replayed without hindsight.

Standing page

Amendments: Corrections Log

Updated

This page lists every correction and substantive revision made on Treaties & Tradeoffs, newest first. Each change is recorded twice on the same day: here, and in the Corrections section at the foot of the page that changed.

What an entry contains

Each entry in the log gives:

  • the date of the change, written year, month, day;
  • a link to the page that changed;
  • the original sentence, quoted in full;
  • the sentence that replaced it;
  • the reason for the change;
  • the source that supports it.

Written out, an entry follows this pattern, with the page title as a link:

YYYY-MM-DD — Page title: original "…" changed to "…"; reason; source.

What changes with a correction

When a fact is corrected, it is corrected everywhere it appears: in the short answer, the Known then: card, tables, figure captions, the page description, the CSV download and the file beside it, and any other page on the site that repeats it. The article's date of last substantive revision moves to the day of the change, and its Cite this page block shows the new date.

Nothing is rewritten silently. The original wording stays quoted in the entry, and entries accumulate rather than replace one another. The same rule covers the site's standing pages, including this one and How a replay works.

To report an error, write to contact@treatiesandtradeoffs.com; the Back channel page explains what helps.
